Annual Summer Picnic 2026 — Photos

Our Badminton Club kicked off a new tradition this year with our first Annual Summer Picnic, held on the last Saturday in April at the beautiful Calderglen Country Park. While we'd hoped for a larger turnout, the sunny Glasgow weather—a rare treat!—brought together a wonderful group of four club members: Thomas, Atul, Deepesh, and Rukhsar. The day was so gorgeous that the main car park filled up quickly, and we made our way to the overflow area. What made the day special was the mix of ages and the community spirit. Deepesh brought along his children, Deelisha and Unnabh, as well as some of his friends' kids, Ava, Ojal, and Hazel, who enjoyed the park's play area while the adults got stuck into some friendly cricket. A highlight came when a passing English gentleman overheard our game, stopped to chat with us about our backgrounds, and even joined in for a match—a lovely reminder of how sport brings people together. The real heart of any good picnic is the food, and we didn't disappoint. Our potluck spread was impressive: Rukhsar brought a delicious chicken roast with vegetables, along with his son Raayan; Deepesh contributed fresh eggs, apple, cheese, and walnut Caesar salad; Atul shared his veg pulao; and Thomas brought homemade chicken drumsticks and a pistachio dessert. With full bellies, good company, and plenty of laughter, we wrapped up a perfect day in the Scottish countryside—and we're already looking forward to next year's picnic!
